On November 24, your favorite boys in teal traded in their jerseys, sticks and pucks for linen shirts, bowling balls and pins at the 3rd annual Sharks and Strikes presented by SAP bowling fundraiser. Hosted at Bowlmor Lanes in San Jose, the event raised over $50,000 to go towards the Sharks Foundation’s mission of helping youth and families in the local community.
This unique event gave fans young and old, the rare opportunity to interact with their favorite Sharks celebrities in a family-friendly environment, and to see them participate in another sport besides hockey. Fans got to bowl with two different celebrities throughout the two hour time frame, giving them the chance to interact and take photos with a variety of players, broadcasters, coaches and alumni.
“I love this event! It’s like a casual setting where you actually get to meet the fans and they get to meet you. It’s not all about the hockey and it’s for a great cause,” said current Sharks broadcaster and Sharks alumni, Jamie Baker.
Including registered guests, Sharks front office, players, broadcasters, coaches, alumni, and their friends and family, the event hosted nearly 400 people, making this year’s event the largest Sharks and Strikes turnout yet.
Self-proclaimed “summer bowlers” Mike Brown and Andrew Desjardins may have had a leg up on the rest of the players, but we think all the participants did a great job!
