Sharks Acquire Tye McGinn from Philadelphia
by Staff Writer / San Jose SharksSAN JOSE, CA - San Jose Sharks (@SanJoseSharks) General Manager Doug Wilson announced today that the club has acquired forward Tye McGinn (@TyeMcGinn) from the Philadelphia Flyers in exchange for a third-round selection in the 2015 NHL Draft.

"Tye is a hardworking player who plays an honest game," said Wilson. "We're excited to add him to our group of young forwards."
McGinn, 23, recorded 35 points (20-15=35) and 62 penalty minutes in 54 games with Adirondack of the American Hockey League last season. The Phantoms alternate captain ranked second on the team in goals and third in points. McGinn also tallied four goals and one assist in 18 games with the Philadelphia Flyers in 2013-14.
The six-foot-two, 210-pound native of Fergus, Ontario, has recorded 79 points (46-33=79) and 161 penalty minutes in 163 career AHL games with Adirondack, and has collected seven goals and three assists in 36 career NHL games with Philadelphia. McGinn was originally drafted by the Flyers in the fourth round (119th overall) of the 2010 NHL Entry Draft, and is the brother of former Sharks forward Jamie McGinn.
