by Staff Writer / San Jose Sharks
San Jose Sharks Executive Vice President and General Manager Doug Wilson announced today that the club has acquired a conditional draft selection from the Colorado Avalanche in exchange for prospect defenseman Michael Vernace. San Jose has the right to select Colorado’s sixth round draft selection in either the 2006 or 2007 NHL Entry Drafts.

The six-foot-two, 200-pound defenseman was originally drafted by San Jose in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft (7th round, 201st overall). In 2005-06, he posted 72 points (10 goals, 62 assists) in 68 games with Brampton of the Ontario Hockey League.
