SAN JOSE - San Jose Sharks (@SanJoseSharks) General Manager Doug Wilson announced today that the club has acquired forward Jannik Hansen (YAH-nihk HAHN-suhn) from the Vancouver Canucks in exchange for forward Nikolay Goldobin and a conditional 2017 4th round draft selection.

Should San Jose win the 2017 Stanley Cup, the 4th round selection becomes a 2017 1st round selection.

"Jannik is a versatile, gritty player who plays with speed and is talented on both sides of the puck," said Wilson. "We think he is a perfect fit for the style of our team, which has earned the right for us to make this move and add to our NHL roster as we push towards the playoffs."

Hansen, 30, has posted 13 points (six goals, seven assists), 27 penalty minutes and a plus-2 rating in 28 games played this season with Vancouver. His six tallies ranked ninth on Vancouver, while his plus-2 rating ranked third on the team.

In 565 career NHL games, all with the Canucks, Hansen recorded 235 points (105 goals, 130 assists) and a plus-46 rating. His 105 goals scored with Vancouver since 2008-09 ranked fifth amongst all Canucks players during that span, while he ranked sixth in points. Last season, Hansen scored a career-high 22 goals, while also posting 38 points (one off his career mark) and a personal-best five game-winning goals. Hansen ranked second on the Canucks in goals, game-winning goals, and ranked fourth in points. His plus-16 rating led all Canucks skaters in 2015-16. He is a three-time winner of the Canucks "Unsung Hero" award (2016, 2013, 2011), and was named the team's "Most Exciting Player" in 2013.

The six-foot-one, 195-pound native of Rodovre, Denmark has collected 18 points (seven goals, 11 assists) and a plus-8 rating in 68 career NHL playoff games, and played in the 2011 Stanley Cup Final with Vancouver.

The Danish-born forward has represented his country on numerous occasions, most recently helping Team Europe to a runner-up finish in the 2016 World Cup of Hockey (with fellow Sharks forward Mikkel Boedker). Hansen has also represented his home country of Denmark in several international tournaments, including the World Championships (2016, 2014, 2012, 2008, 2006 and 2005), the World Junior Championships (2006, 2005, and 2004) and the World Junior U18 Championships (2003, 2002).

Hansen's date to join San Jose will be determined once his immigration process is completed.

Goldobin has played in 46 games with the Barracuda this season, posting 41 points (15 goals, 26 assists). In 11 career NHL games with San Jose, he has posted two points (one goal, one assist).
