SAN JOSE, CA - San Jose Sharks (@sanjosesharks) Executive Vice President and General Manager Doug Wilson announced today that the club has acquired forward Mike Brown from the Edmonton Oilers in exchange for a fourth round selection in the 2014 NHL Draft.
"Mike plays a speed game and fits the 'Fast, Hard and Supportive' mantra that our team wants to play with," said Wilson. "He is a player with tremendous character, knows the Western Conference well and brings a tough, physical ingredient to our line-up."
Brown has played in 289 NHL games with Vancouver, Anaheim, Toronto and Edmonton, posting 16 points (15 goals, 11 assists) and 591 penalty minutes.
The five-foot-eleven, 202-pound right wing was originally selected by Vancouver in the fifth round (159th overall) in the 2004 NHL Draft.
The Sharks also announced that defenseman Dan Boyle has been placed on injured reserve.
