SAN JOSE, California -
San Jose Sharks Executive Vice President and General Manager Doug Wilson announced today that the club has acquired forward Tyler Kennedy from the Pittsburgh Penguins in exchange for a 2013 second round draft selection (50th overall).
"Tyler is a highly-competitive forward who plays with speed and has a history of scoring big goals," said Wilson. "He has played in a lot of playoff games over the last past five seasons, won a Stanley Cup and we think he fits in perfectly with our group and how we want to play the game."
In 372 NHL games, all with Pittsburgh, Kennedy has posted 168 points (76 goals, 92 assists) and 181 penalty minutes. He scored a career-high 21 goals in 2010-11.
In 76 Stanley Cup Playoff games, he has added 27 points (12 goals, 15 assists).
