It was just your average puck drop at 4:08 p.m. when Joe Thornton and Nazem Kadri got nixed from the face-off circle for slashing. Neither of them ready to end things, they decided to drop gloves and make things interesting just two seconds into the game.

The fluff ball that is Joe Thornton's beard somehow returned to the Sharks bench and into Aaron Dell's glove. A pretty cool souvenir we'd say!

After a back and forth contest and six shootout rounds, the beard pulling incident had not been forgotten. Team Teal had a few comments to be heard during postgame interviews. "Yeah, it was the talk for a little bit" Joe Pavelski mentioned when the beard ball came his way on the bench.
Even coach DeBoer got a kick out of the hairy situation, "I've seen a lot of things over 25 years as a coach and I haven't seen a clump of beard on the ice before."
Don't fret- the clump of beard is in good hands with the Sharks equipment staff! In the words of Joe Thornton, this one is "For the Boys."

We can confirm that despite the amount of hair ripped off, Thornton's beard still looks as full as ever.
