Have you ever dreamed of what it would be like to be a professional hockey player, or are you curious as to what really goes on behind closed locker room doors?
On February 7, 24 hockey fans got that insight as they experienced a true, day in the life of an NHL player by attending the Sharks Foundation’s 13th annual Shark for a Day Fantasy Camp at SAP Center.
Throughout the day, campers enjoyed various activities including a game footage tutorial from members of the Sharks coaching staff, and a private Q&A session with Sharks General Manager, Doug Wilson.
Participants skated alongside Sharks Alumni Owen Nolan, Marco Sturm, Kyle McLaren, and Jeff Friesen in a regulation game coached by Jamie Baker and David Maley, and viewed by hundreds of their friends and family.
The day wrapped up with a behind-the-scenes tour of SAP Center and participants were then hosted in a suite for the Sharks vs. Hurricanes game that evening which kicked off with a happy hour hosted by Sharks COO, and Foundation board member, John Tortora.
Shark for a Day Fantasy Camp brought in around $32,000 which will be re-distributed back into the community through the Sharks Foundation’s annual grant process and community programming, supporting undeserved youth and families in the community.
