Second Round Tickets Move Quickly

by San Jose Sharks Staff / San Jose Sharks
SAN JOSE, Calif. – San Jose Sharks fans devoured tickets to Games “E” and “F” of the Sharks second round Stanley Cup playoff series against the Dallas Stars this morning in record time. Approximately 1,000 tickets for each game went on sale throughout the Bay Area at 10:00 AM. By 10:16 AM, all seats were sold out.

A line of approximately 90 fans assembled outside HP Pavilion at 8:00 AM to get a pre-numbered wristband which determined the order that fans were able to purchase tickets. Due to overwhelming demand, HP Pavilion uses the wrist banding system for all Sharks playoff on-sales to ensure that all fans have a fair opportunity to purchase tickets. Numbered wristbands were given out until 9:00 AM and in that time 235 wristbands were distributed.

At 9:30 AM Sharks mascot S.J. Sharkie chose little Donovan Bomar of Monterey, California to select the number of the first person in line to buy tickets. Bomar, who woke up at 6:30 AM to be at HP Pavilion for the on-sale, was accompanied by his dad, Sean.

“We came a long way to be here,” said Sean Bomar. “I was hoping he was going select my number.”

Unfortunately for Bomar, that honor belonged to the fan wearing lucky wristband #1152 who turned out to be Steve Lee of San Jose. Lee, a transplant from Boston who is both a Sharks fan and a Bruins fan, used his lucky placement in line to purchase two tickets to Game “E” which will be played this Friday at 7 p.m.

Another lucky fan able to purchase tickets was Dennis “Sykik” Taylor, a professional gambler by day and Sharks fan by night. “Sykik” purchased two tickets in the upper bowl for Game “F” but was hoping to be a bit closer to the ice.

“I really wanted to be sitting in the lower bowl. But beggars can’t be choosers. I am just happy to be going to the game,” said Sykik. “I am rooting for the Sharks, but I predict that the Stars are going to win the series in five games.”

Let’s hope “Sykik” isn’t a Psychic!
