The San Jose Sharks and The Sharks Foundation have once again teamed up with Second Harvest Food Bank of Santa Clara and San Mateo Counties and the first night of the Holiday Food & Fund Drive was a huge success!
On the Nov. 12 game (vs. Phoenix) hundreds of Sharks fans donated enough non-perishable goods to fill 8 barrels to the brim and over $1,000 in cash. The food will be sorted and distributed to service agencies throughout both counties and each dollar donated will provide two nutritious meals to families in need.

The Sharks Foundation will collect donations again at the next home game, on Nov. 17 vs. Anaheim. Sharks fans can help in the effort by making donations of canned and non-perishable foods as well as cash donations as they enter the North and South Entrances.
The most needed items are canned meals (soups, chili, etc.), canned meats (chicken, tuna, etc.), peanut butter, canned vegetables and fruits, low-sugar cereals, 100% fruit juices in single serving boxes and other non-perishable items. Items in glass jars cannot be donated.
Sharks fans participating in the drive will be given a raffle ticket as they donate for a drawing that will happen during the game. Raffle winners will be announced on the new video boards during the first intermission and will win prizes which will include autographed Sharks memorabilia.

The Second Harvest Food Bank has been serving low-income children, adults and seniors for nearly 20 years distributing more than 30-million pounds of food, feeding close to 200,000 people each month in Santa Clara and San Mateo Counties.

The Second Harvest Holiday Food and Fund Drive is the largest single campaign organized by the Second Harvest Food Bank. Every year more than 1,800 organizations participate and promote the holiday drive, making it not only the largest campaign within the Second Harvest Food Bank, but also in the entire United States of America!
The goal of the Holiday Food and Fund drive is to raise $5-million and 1.9-million pounds of food. The food donated is used to make balanced nutritious meals and the monetary funding is used to purchase goods needed to ensure a balanced meal.
In past years our generous fans have donated thousands of dollars and countless pounds of food to the cause. Each year Sharks fans have shown their compassion towards their community, consistently increasing their participation in the food drive at HP Pavilion. According to the Second Harvest Food Bank, last year was a record year for the San Jose Sharks donation center bringing in nearly $20,000 in cash donations and 2,796 pounds of food.
