Forward Milan Michalek Earns Honors for First Time
The San Jose Sharks announced today that left wing Milan Michalek has been selected as the Seagate Technology “Sharks Player of the Month” for the month of October. The award will be presented prior to the Sharks game against the New York Rangers tonight.
Playing in all 13 of the Sharks games this season, Michalek is tied-for-second on the team in points (13) along with a team-leading seven goals. His four power play goals are tied for the team lead, as his plus-four rating.
His seven goals are tied for tenth in the NHL and his 13 points are tied for 24th in the League.
Originally selected by San Jose in the first round (6th overall) in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft, Michalek’s 13 points this season are third in the NHL among all second-year players, behind only Sidney Crosby (15 points) and Thomas Vanek (14 points).
Last season, he was named the PlayStation “Sharks Rookie of the Year” when he posted 35 points (17 goals, 18 assists) in 81 games.
