San Jose Will Face L.A. In The 1st Round

by San Jose Sharks Staff / San Jose Sharks
Due to Detroit topping Chicago in regulation on Sunday, the Sharks will play the Los Angeles Kings in the first round of the 2011 Stanley Cup Playoffs. It marks the first time in the 20 year history of the Sharks the two Pacific Division rivals will have faced off in the postseason.

During the regular season, the Sharks went 3-1-2 against the Kings, with two of the Kings victories courtesy of the shootout, a non factor in the postseason.

In the six regular season battles, San Jose twice scored six goals, both times in the Bay Area, and on each occasion San Jose used six different goal scorers to accomplish the feat. Patrick Marleau, Devin Setoguchi and Joe Pavelski paced the Sharks attack with each scoring three times against the Kings this year.

Here are the regular season game results.
