) General Manager Mike Grier announced today that the club has signed forward Filip Zadina to a one-year contract worth $1.1 million.

Zadina, 23, primarily spent the season with the Detroit Red Wings, appearing in 30 games and scoring seven points (three goals, four assists) with 10 penalty minutes. Zadina also played in two American Hockey League (AHL) games with Detroit's affiliate, the Grand Rapids Griffins, scoring one goal in two games.

Over the course of his NHL career, Zadina has appeared in 190 NHL games and collected 68 points (28 goals, 40 assists) all with Detroit. He set career highs in several offensive categories in the 2021-22 season, registering 24 points, 10 goals and 14 assists along with 156 shots in 74 games. He ranked sixth among Red Wings forwards in assists that season. Zadina has also appeared in 82 career AHL games, scoring 52 points (26 goals, 26 assists) for the Griffins.

Prior to his professional career, he appeared in one season for the Halifax Mooseheads in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL), scoring 82 points (44 goals, 38 assists) in 57 games in the 2017-18 season. He led the league as a rookie in in goals, assists, and points, was named to the QMJHL All-Rookie Team, QMJHL First All-Star Team and was awarded the Mike Bossy Trophy as the Best Professional Prospect. He appeared in nine postseason games for Halifax, scoring 12 points (five goals, seven assists), which co-led the team.

He also played for the HC Dynamo Pardubice, appearing in Czechia's top league in two separate seasons, appearing in 27 total games, and primarily played for the club's U-20 team across three seasons, where he collected 41 points (23 goals, 18 assists) in 45 career games.

Internationally, he has represented Team Czechia at the 2018 and 2019 World Junior Championships, along with the 2021 IIHF World Championships. In 2018 he was named to the U-20 World Junior Championship All-Star Team after scoring eight points (one goal, seven assists) in seven tournament games.

The six-foot, 190-pound native of Pardubice, Czechia was originally selected by Detroit in the 2018 NHL Draft (first round, sixth overall).
