SAN JOSE - Sam Tageson, who had a lifelong dream fulfilled when he became a "Shark For A Day" on March 18, 2014, will help raise funds for the Make-A-Wish Foundation by holding a signing of his Upper Deck rookie card at Steven Creek Sports Cards on June 1 at 1:00 p.m.
Upper Deck created a special Young Guns Rookie card, typically reserved for first-year NHL players, to honor Tageson's inspirational fight against left hypoplastic heart syndrome and impressive ability to overcome adversity. Tageson will be autographing copies of his card on Sunday June 1 at 1:00 p.m. PST at Stevens Creek Sports Cards in San Jose. At the event, he will be accepting donations for the Make-A-Wish Foundation as well as the Sharks Foundation. Upper Deck will also be contributing a variety of exciting memorabilia, limited-edition trading cards and promotional items for a special giveaway with fans that day.
In addition, a Sharks commemorative Tageson shirt custom made by Reebok can now be ordered online by clicking here. All proceeds from the shirt will go to Make-A-Wish Greater Bay Area.
During his day with the Sharks on March 18, 2014, the 18-year-old Tageson took part in the Sharks morning skate, met with General Manager Doug Wilson, had lunch with Bay Area Hall of Famer Owen Nolan, received a custom suit from Franco Uomo at Santana Row, had dinner in Sharks press room with CSN staff, took a pre-game tour of SAP Center, became the first non-rostered player to skate through the Shark head with Sharks team, and stood at blue line with the starting line-up for the national anthem.
