Reserves From Worcester

by San Jose Sharks Staff / San Jose Sharks
On Tuesday, the Sharks recalled forwards Benn Ferriero, Frazer McLaren and Logan Couture from the Worcester Sharks of the AHL.

Part of the reason for the recalls is the Sharks will be without the services of Devin Setoguchi and Brad Staubitz Tuesday in Nashville. Setoguchi has a lower body injury and Staubitz recently took a puck to the face and will be further evaluated.

Ferriero has played in 17 games with San Jose this season, posting two goals and two assists. He has also played in four games for Worcester posting two assists.

The five-foot ten, 185-pound native of Boston, Massachusetts was signed by San Jose as a free agent on Sept. 1, 2009.

McLaren has played in four games with San Jose this season, making his NHL debut on Oct. 3 at Anaheim. He picked up his first NHL point that night, assisting on Jason Demers first NHL goal. He collected his first NHL fighting major on Oct. 8 vs. Columbus.

In 13 games with Worcester, McLaren has posted five points (one goal, four assists) in addition to 52 penalty minutes.

The six-foot-four, 235 pound Winnipeg, Manitoba native was originally selected by San Jose in the seventh round (203rd overall) of the 2007 NHL Entry Draft.

Couture, 20, made his NHL debut on Oct. 25 at Philadelphia. He picked up his first NHL point on Nov. 1 at Carolina, assisting on Brad Staubitz’s game-winning goal and scored his first NHL goal on Nov. 5 at Detroit. In seven games with San Jose, he has posted two points and two penalty minutes.

Playing in his first full season as a professional, Couture has posted 10 points (four goals, six assists) in 13 games for Worcester, placing him among the League Leaders for rookies.
