SAN FRANCISCO, CA – Comcast SportsNet, the home of “Authentic Bay Area Sports,” delivers extensive coverage of San Jose Sharks hockey as the Sharks take the home ice for the first time in the 2009-10 NHL season against the Columbus Blue Jackets on Thursday, October 8.

Sharks home opener coverage includes:

CHRONICLE LIVE FROM HP PAVILION AT SAN JOSE

Chronicle Live kicks off the evening with a special edition from the HP Pavilion at San Jose beginning at 5:00 p.m. on Comcast SportsNet Bay Area. Show guests include Jeremy Roenick (former Sharks center), Randy Hahn (CSN’s play-by-play broadcaster), Drew Remenda (CSN’s color analyst), Dan Rusanowsky (radio play-by-play broadcaster), Jamie Baker (Sharks Pregame Live, Sharks Postgame Live host), Mark Purdy (San Jose Mercury News), David Pollack (San Jose Mercury News), and Ross McKeon (Yahoo! Sports).

Hosted by Greg Papa, Chronicle Live airs live Monday-Friday from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Comcast SportsNet Bay Area, and replays on Comcast SportsNet Bay Area at 11:00 p.m. and on Comcast SportsNet California at 6:00 p.m. and midnight.

SPORTSNET CENTRAL
Sharks coverage continues at 6:00 p.m. on Comcast SportsNet Bay Area’s SportsNet Central immediately following Chronicle Live with continued Sharks news and analysis and all of the day’s top sports headlines.

SportsNet Central, a live 30-minute local sports news show, provides Northern California sports fans with nightly in-depth, comprehensive news coverage on the hometown teams, breaking local and national news, up-to-the-minute scores, the best local video highlights and daily insider reports on the Bay Area’s teams. SportsNet Central is the destination for local fans to turn seven nights a week with newscasts at 6:00 p.m., 10:30 p.m. and midnight.

SHARKS PREGAME LIVE
Hosted by Scott Reiss and Jamie Baker, Sharks Pregame Live will lead viewers right to the drop of the puck with a breakdown of the evening’s match-up, plus interviews with Sharks coaches and players. Sharks Pregame Live airs on Comcast SportsNet California at 7:00 p.m.

SHARKS VS. BLUE JACKETS
Comcast SportsNet California, the new exclusive regional cable television home of the Sharks, presents the Sharks vs. the Blue Jackets at 7:30 p.m. (available in HDTV). This season, Comcast SportsNet California’s Sharks schedule features 75 exclusive games and at least 50 High Definition telecasts.

For approximately 24 hours following each game this season, Comcast SportsNet California’s Sharks telecasts will be available on Comcast Digital Cable’s ON DEMAND Channel 1 at no additional cost. Select Sharks HDTV games will also be available ON DEMAND Channel 1.

SHARKS POSTGAME LIVE
Immediately following the game, Comcast SportsNet California will air Sharks Postgame Live, with Scott Reiss and Jamie Baker providing in-depth game analysis, game highlights, and a live look at Coach Todd McLellan’s press conference, along with interviews from the locker room.
