Lack of lights prior to an Oilers morning skate turned into a controversy.

There's always a little more media attention when a Canadian team comes around.

So when the lights at SAP Center didn't turn on and the nets weren't out until the scheduled start of the Oilers morning skate, it became a minor controversy that the Oilers couldn't start their practice early.

Tweet from @TSNRyanRishaug: Sharks say Oilers can't start skate until 1130 because they skated at 1030, so lights aren't on an no nets, but Sharks skate was early too

This "controversy" made its way across the hockey media landscape, enough that some members of the San Jose Sharks decided to make fun of it.

When the team was back in Edmonton for their morning skate, they refused to take the ice until 11:30AM on the dot, counting down on the bench.

And when they took the ice, well...

Tweet from @TSNRyanRishaug: Several Sharks just informed me that the ice was still wet at 1130 when their practice was supposed to start. Asked me to tweet it.. so..
