Mystery Puck Sales For The Sharks Foundation

by San Jose Sharks Staff / San Jose Sharks
The Sharks Foundation will be holding its annual Holiday Mystery Puck fundraiser during the Sharks home games on Tues., Dec. 21 (vs. Edmonton) and Thurs., Dec. 23 (vs. Phoenix).

At each event, a limited number of specially designed Holiday-themed pucks will be sold on the Concourse Level at both the North and South Entrances. Every puck is guaranteed to be signed by a Sharks player and will be individually wrapped so the player's identity remains a surprise until after purchase. During each sale a select number of pucks will be labeled "WINNER" and the lucky fans who select these pucks will win additional prizes.

Due to the popularity of this fundraiser, fans are encouraged to arrive early, as most have sold out well before the start of the game. Pucks are just $20 each and net proceeds will benefit this season's Sharks Foundation Grant Recipients and community programming.

ABOUT THE SHARKS FOUNDATION:

The Sharks Foundation is dedicated to enhancing the lives of youth and families in our community with an emphasis in the areas of Education, Heath and Safety, and Character Development. The Sharks Foundation supplies emergency aid when appropriate, executes unique and relevant programming, supports the advancement of youth hockey and provides financial support and resources to organizations that enrich the lives of those in need. Although the San Jose Sharks and the Sharks Foundation support a variety of community programs on various levels, we feel that the key to the long-term well-being of our community is our youth.

The San Jose Sharks are as deeply involved with the neighborhood we live in as we are with the game that we play. As role models, we feel responsible to give back to the community that so strongly supports us. To this end, the Sharks Foundation was created in 1994 in an effort to increase our organizational impact on Santa Clara County. With the help of Sharks players, coaches and staff, the Sharks Foundation invests in the community with the hope of enhancing the lives of our youth. It quickly evolved and expanded beyond its original charter and has since donated over $4.1 million to more than 85 local beneficiaries. During the 2009-10 season, its contribution to local youth programs and organizations totaled $256,898 through monetary grants. In addition to the original grant program, the Sharks Foundation manages educational programs, hosts major fundraisers, executes pledge programs and implements community outreach events.
