The San Jose Sharks and the Mobile Shark Tank (MST) will be out in the community again during the spring and summer, visiting various community centers, festivals and schools throughout the Bay Area.
The MST is a FREE program that aims at educating local youth about the sport of hockey while promoting teamwork in a fun environment. It consists of one-foot-high light foam boards forming a hockey rink, set up in a designated area like a parking lot, blacktop or gymnasium floor. The Sharks provide sticks, balls and the necessary equipment for goalies and ask participants to wear tennis shoes.
Last summer, with the help of mascot S.J. Sharkie, the Sharks gained hundreds of new hockey fans as the MST traveled to various community events throughout Northern California. The MST racked up some mileage as Sharks staff set-up and facilitated short scrimmages and drills for elementary school-aged children.
