Michalek Captures Seagate Technology "Sharks Player of the Month" Honors

by Staff Writer / San Jose Sharks
The Sharks have once again teamed up with Seagate Technology to award the efforts of Sharks players throughout the entire 2006-07 season.
Established in the 1996-97 season, the Seagate Technology “Sharks Player of the Month” program honors the Sharks player(s) who have contributed most to the team’s success each month.  Seagate Technology will donate $2,500 on behalf of the player(s) to The Sharks Foundation.  In addition, one player will be selected as the Seagate Technology “Sharks Player of the Year” at the conclusion of the season and Seagate Technology will donate $5,000 on his behalf to The Sharks Foundation.  Seagate Technology has donated more than $220,000 to The Sharks Foundation since the program's inception.
The Sharks awarded Milan Michalek with the “Sharks Player of the Month Award” for the month of October. Playing in all 13 of the Sharks games in October, Michalek lead the team in goals with seven and ranked tied for second with 13 points.
Originally selected by San Jose in the first round (6th overall) in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft, Michalek’s 13 points this season are third in the NHL among all second-year players, behind only Sidney Crosby (15 points) and Thomas Vanek (14 points).
Last season, he was named the PlayStation “Sharks Rookie of the Year” when he posted 35 points (17 goals, 18 assists) in 81 games.
