McLellan Clinches Final All-Star Game Coaching Berth

SAN JOSE, California – San Jose Sharks head coach Todd McLellan has clinched the remaining coaching berth for the 2012 Tim Hortons NHL® All-Star Game on Sunday, Jan. 29 at Scotiabank Place in Ottawa.
McLellan's Sharks have recorded a points percentage of .658 (23-11-4), tops in the Western Conference. McLellan joins head coach John Tortorella, whose New York Rangers lead the Eastern Conference with a .718 points percentage (26-9-4). It marks the second All-Star Game selection for McLellan in his four years as a head coach (2009).
Under the All-Star Game selection process, the head coaches of the teams with the highest points percentage (points earned divided by total possible points) in the Eastern and Western Conference through games of Monday, Jan. 9 -- the halfway point of the regular season -- earn the right to co-lead one of the All-Star teams.
As head coach of the 2011 Stanley Cup champion Boston Bruins, Claude Julien will coach the other All-Star team. Julien will be assisted by returning members of the Cup-winning Bruins coaching staff.
The 2012 NHL All-Star Weekend comes to Ottawa, Canada’s capital, Jan. 26 through Jan. 29. The festivities culminate with the 2012 Tim Hortons NHL ® All-Star Game on Sunday, Jan. 29 at Scotiabank Place. Live television coverage will be provided by CBC and RDS in Canada and the NBC Sports Network in the United States.
