In the middle of June, Sharks center Mark Smith put his musical talents on display with three separate shows in the Bay Area. Smith, who occasionally plays before fans during the season, takes it to another level when the offseason begins.
Smith, an accomplished musician, plays guitar in addition to several indigenous instruments, including the didgeridoo (Australia) and African xylophone.
He describes the music of his band, The Talking Trees, as “original” and “organic energy music with good vibes.”
Smith performed solo, along with Talking Trees bass player, Alek Dorian, on Saturday, June 17th at Smoke Tiki Lounge in Downtown San Jose and at the SoFA Lounge on South First Street.
On Thursday, June 22, The Talking Trees played at Michael’s on Main, located in Soquel, CA.
In addition to their past Bay Area performances, The Talking Trees have scheduled a tour of Western Canada this summer, with dates in Vancouver, Kelowna, and Edmonton with more shows to be announced in the near future.
