After missing almost a quarter of the NHL season, Sharks blueliner Brad Lukowich returned to the lineup in Monday’s nationally televised 1-0 shutout win in Dallas.
“I didn’t feel bad,” said Lukowich. “Obviously it is going to get better.”
In returning to a city where he once played a pivotal role fighting against the Sharks, Lukowich was as excited as a rookie.
“I didn’t sleep last night,” said Lukowich. “Tonight I’ll sleep like a baby.”
Lukowich played 13:38 in his return as his ice time was managed.
“A couple of times I got caught on extended shifts,” said Lukowich.
Lukowich was surprised when he was informed he had been out 18 games.
“I didn’t realize it until you said it,” said the former Stanley Cup winning defenseman.
As for his game, Lukowich was a strong +1 on the night when there was only one Sharks tally in the shutout.
“I’ve got to get better so I can be there for the guys,” said Lukowich. “It’s one game and I just tried to get my feet in the right place.”
