Ryane Clowe got in a fight, scored the game-tying goal with less than three minutes left in regulation and netted the lone goal in the shootout in the Sharks 4-3 win. Antti Niemi made 21-of-24 saves including all three shootout attempts. Devin Setougchi continued his scoring ways and Kyle Wellwood scored as well in the Sharks' sixth consecutive win.


Calgary 3rd attempt: Olli Jokinen went wide to try to get Antti Niemi to go side to side but still the Sharks netminder made the pad save for the win.

Sharks 3rd attempt: Ryane Clowe deked and cut back to his forehand to net the first goal of the shootout.

Calgary 2nd attempt: Alex Tanguay's shot was blocked by Antti Niemi.

San Jose 2nd attempt: Joe Pavelski's straight shot missed the net.

Calgary 1st attempt: Antti Niemi made the pad save on Rene Bourque.

Sharks 1st attempt: Miikka Kiprusoff poke checked Kyle Wellwood and distrupted him enough to not get a shot off.


Antti Niemi turned aside the Flames' final attempt as we're headed into the shootout.

Three-on-two rush for the Sharks and Miikka Kiprusoff came up with the save. No rebound.

Devin Setoguchi weaved his way into the offensive zone and his backhander just hit the outside of the net.

Captain Joe Thornton stole the puck behind Calgary's net as the Sharks working the corner to try and gain possession.

Calgary regained the puck from behind their net and set up play in the Sharks zone.

San Jose won the opening faceoff of the overtime period.


San Jose head into overtime for the second consecutive game with the game tied at 3-3.

Ryane Clowe roofed one from the slot and tied the game at 3-3 late for the Sharks. Patrick Marleau and Dany Heatley earned the assist.

San Jose, trying to mount a comeback, are having a very difficult time clearing the zone.

A huge scramble in front of the net when Miikka Kiprusoff failed to cover up the rebound as everyone converged around the crease. Kiprusoff flopped around side to side until he did recaptured the puck and the ref gave him the whistle.

Miikka Kiprusoff made a blocker save on Dany Heatley's shot. San Jose has 23 shots in the game.

San Jose set up inside the zone and fired a shot from the point that ended up in the netting.

Calgary won the faceoff at center iced. They also killed off Stajan's penalty.

Matt Stajan got called for a slashing penalty and the Sharks would go on their second consecutive powerplay.

Antti Niemi made a huge save on Anton Babchuk's shorthanded attempt.

Robin Regehr got tagged with a high-sticking penalty. San Jose will go on their first powerplay of the night.

San Jose successfully killed off the four-minute penalty and start a rush the other way.

Huge save by Antti Niemi on the one-timer.

Calgary won the faceoff to start the second period.


The Sharks find themselves in a 3-2 hole heading into the second intermission. Calgary scored twice in the middle stanza to earn the lead for the first time this game.

Ryane Clowe is tacked with a four-minute penalty, two for holding and two for unsportsmanlike conduct.. At first, he went to the penalty box but then the ref indicated him head to the lockerroom. Ben Eager is currently serving the penalties.

Niklas Hagman stickhandled his way pass two Sharks defenseman and his off balanced forehand shot found the top left corner. The Flames led the first time this game at 3-2.

David Moss's slapshot from atop the right faceoff circle during the rush beat Antti Niemi down low and tied the game up a 2-2. Olli Jokinen earned the only assist on the game-tying goal.

Antti Niemi made a tough save with all that traffic in front of him on a shot from the point. The Flames has 14 shots so far this game compared to 18 from San Jose.

Olli Jokinen won the faceoff in the defensive zone. Calgary has won 18 of 34.

Ryane Clowe and Tim Jackman dropped the gloves and dance following the faceoff. Both went to the sin bin afterwards for a five-minute timeout.

Kyle Wellwood redirected Jamal Mayers' shot from the side over the sprawling Miikka Kiprusoff to give San Jose the 2-1 lead. Joe Pavelski and Mayers earned the assists.

Miikka Kiprusoff's mask came off after he made the save from a shot from the side board.

Antti Niemi made the routine save on Ollie Jorkinen's shot.

Justin Braun's shot was blocked before it reached its target. The Sharks have four shots in the second so far and 14 in the game.

The Sharks continued their assult on Miikka Kiprusoff with Jamal Mayer's shot barely missing the net on his attempt.

San Jose cycling the puck and have been in control of the puck since the puck dropped in the second period.


The game remained tied after 20 minutes of action on goals from Anton Babchuk and the hot Devin Setoguchi. Calgary tallied 11 hits in the first period and Marc-Edouard Vlasic led all skaters with 8:50 of ice time.

Miikka Kiprusoff made the first save on a shot from on high but Niclas Wallin knocked in the loose puck to the left of Kipper's pad and into the net. However, the ref had already whistled the pay dead when he thought the Flames netminder had control of the puck but in fact it was loose in the crease and denied San Jose their second goal of the game.

Everyone but Torrey Mitchell lost the puck who stood behind Miikka Kiprusoff.

Anton Babchuk entered the zone with the Sharks defense surrounded him. His shot from near the faceoff circle beat Antti Niemi high has the puck just tucked under the crossbar to tie the game up for the Flames.

Devin Setoguchi drove the puck deep and Joe Thornton picked up the puck on the other side of the ice as the puck rimmed around. San Jose quickly set up play in the offensive zone.

Calgary has been pouring it on as of late. Antti Niemi was forced to make two back-to-back saves.

Marc-Edouard Vlasic made the block on David Moss's attempt. San Jose has six blocks on the game.

Calgary's Rene Bourque made a tough angle shot for their second shot of the night on Antti Niemi who made the save and quickly covered up the rebound laying at the crease.

Miikka Kiprusoff made the save on Kyle Wellwood's wrister. San Jose has five shots on goal compared to Calgary's one so far this game.

Sharks kept the Flames without a shot during their powerplay.

Ian White got called for a hooking penalty. Calgary's 15th in the NHL on the powerplay but are fourth in the League on the man advanage at home.

The puck trickled out to Devin Setoguchi who was unmarked in the slot. His initial shot was blocked by Miikka Kiprusoff, but Seto knocked in his own rebound to net the Sharks early 1-0 lead. Seto scored his 18th goal of the season and his seventh point in the last four games. Logan Couture earned the lone assist.

Ben Eager and Tim Jackman duke it out near the Calgary blueline. Eager put in a few body shots before tackling Jackman down onto the ground. Both earn five for fighting.

Joe Thornton won the game's opening faceoff.


Dan Boyle, who appeared hurt in the Pittsburgh game during the last minute goal from the Pittsburgh Penguins, will not be in the lineup tonight when the San Jose Sharks take on the Calgary Flames. Rookie Justin Braun is reported to be filling in Boyle's spot tonight.

San Jose is 14-2-1 over their last 17 contest and have collected 29 points out of a possible 34. The Flames are also riding a win streak of late; they have won nine of their last 11 games at the Saddledome.
