Dear Sharks season ticket holders, fans and supporters:
I have announced my decision to step away from the day-to-day operations of the San Jose Sharks. Rest assured, the organization sits in the very capable hands of a passionate and talented group of people that remains dedicated to winning the Stanley Cup.
I will stay involved with the team, remaining a member of the ownership group and serving as the franchise’s Governor to the NHL and on the League’s ten-person Executive Committee. In addition, I will continue to be active as president of the Sharks Foundation.
I am very proud of the many great things this organization has accomplished since I took over as president in 1996. We have never wavered from our goal of bringing the Stanley Cup to San Jose by constructing a team sensibly and utilizing the right resources when necessary, which will not change. Off the ice, our dedicated staff has built HP Pavilion at San Jose into one of the most successful arenas in the nation. Our fan development initiatives, efforts with our Sharks Ice facilities, work in the community and practice of listening to our fan base has helped us become part of the fabric of San Jose and Silicon Valley.
I want to express my appreciation and gratitude to the ownership group for their support and to thank you for your dedication, passion, enthusiasm and feedback throughout my tenure.
