On Tuesday, the American Hockey League announced the Canadian AHL All-Star team roster for the 2009 AHL All-Star Classic, resented by Charter Communications, to be played later this month at the DCU Center in Worcester, Mass., and the Sharks Derek Joslin has been voted a starter.
Currently with San Jose, Joslin is in his second professional season and has posted seven goals and 13 helpers in 34 AHL games this year. He recently played in his first NHL game last Saturday and is with San Jose on a three-game trip to Canada.
“I’m very happy about being chosen,” said Joslin. “It’s something I really wanted this year. To be named in such great company is a thrill. The Worcester fans are great and are tremendously supportive and I can’t wait to skate out in the game and hear their support.”
January has been a kind month to the Richmond, Ontario native.
“It’s been a great week for me, starting the new year in the NHL and being named an AHL All-Star,” said Joslin.
The PlanetUSA AHL All-Star team roster will be announced on Wednesday.
The NHL’s Western Conference reserves will be named on Wednesday. San Jose Head Coach Todd McLellan can clinch the head coaching duties for the game if the Sharks earn just one point in Calgary tonight.
