John Shrader To Serve As Intermission Host For FSN Bay Area Telecasts Of Sharks Hockey
/ San Jose Sharks
Long time Bay Area broadcaster John Shrader will join play-by-play announcer Randy Hahn and color analyst Marty McSorley on FSN Bay Area as the San Jose Sharks intermission host and rink-side reporter for the 2006-07 season.
Equipped with nearly 30 years of broadcast experience, Shrader will provide in-depth game coverage and interesting off-ice features as well as taking fans on the bench and in the locker room with an “All-Access” look at the team.
For more than 15 years, Shrader served as a sports anchor/sports reporter/talk show host for KNBR Radio in San Francisco, the nation's No. 1 all-sports station. He was also a television sports anchor in San Jose for ten years, first at KNTV-TV and then KICU-TV.
Shrader replaces Glen Kuiper, who will move exclusively to Golden State Warriors broadcasts, in addition to his growing role with the Oakland Athletics.
Shrader's wide range of experience includes ten years as the radio and television voice of the two-time Major League Soccer Champion San Jose Earthquakes. He has also been the radio voice of San Jose State University football and basketball, the Silicon Valley Classic College Football Bowl Game and the annual East-West Shrine Game.
Shrader, who teaches Journalism and Media at San Jose City College, has a Bachelor's degree in Journalism from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. He worked in radio and television for three years in the Nebraska cities of Kearney and Hastings before moving to the Bay Area in 1980.
