Huge Holiday Hockey Tournament Successfully Hosted By Jr. Sharks

Logitech Ice, the largest ice arena west of the Mississippi River, hosted the Second Annual AAA/AA Labor Day Kickoff event from September 2-5.  The extremely successful tournament drew 34 top-notch teams that spanned the United States, stretching from Kansas City to Seattle.


All-in-all, it was a great way for AA & AAA teams to get their 2005-06 season underway. With the success experienced, plans for the 3rd Annual San Jose Jr. Sharks AAA/AA Labor Day Kickoff are already in place.  The tournament is slated for Sept. 1-4, 2006 at Logitech Ice in San Jose. Interested teams should contact San Jose Jr. Sharks AAA/AA Committee President Joe Licolli (email: to be put on the mailing list for next year.


Three Jr. Sharks teams competed.


In the Midget division, the 16U AAA Sharks went 3-2 in the four-day event. The squad beat L.A. Hockey Club (3-1), the Las Vegas Outlaws (1-0) and the L.A. Jr. Kings (3-2).


In the Bantam division, the '91 AAA team went 1-1-2 on the weekend. The team beat the Southern California Vipers 8-3, lost to the Las Vegas Outlaws 5-0 and tied the Phoenix Firebirds and the Phoenix Polar Bears both by a score of 2-2.
