Monday, September 5 typically is Labor Day in the U.S.However, several weeks ago, it was known as hockey central around these parts as long-time radio play-by-play voice Dan Rusanowsky filled in from the noon-3 p.m. for the Rick and Rod show on 680 AM, the sports leader.
Listeners were treated to a guest list that was a who's who smorgasbord of NHL celebrities including segments with Mike Emrick, the new play-by-play announcer for the NHL's new national television partner, OLN and longtime broadcaster for the N.J. Devils.Next up was Bill Daly: Deputy Commissioner of the NHL and second in command to NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman.Daly, who was at the forefront of the CBA negotiations, provided terrific insight into the process and what the future holds.
Not to be left out, the Sharks chimed in as Sharks Executive Vice President and General Manager Doug Wilson and team captain Patrick Marleau energized the airwaves.
In addition to taking numerous calls to talk about the world of sports, S.J. Earthquakes Head Coach Dominic Kinnear and Senior Editor of Soccer America Magazine Ridge Mahoney rounded out the guest list.
