Welcome to the Gameday Blog, the one-stop shop for San Jose Sharks fans on every gameday. This blog will be updated throughout the day with news, lineup information, videos, and tweets, so be sure to check back as the day goes on.
Rounding out the homestand tonight, the Sharks are hosting the Dallas Stars in an earlier-than-normal 5PM game. It is also the night where the Sharks are celebrating Lunar New Year Night presented by Cache Creek Casino Resort.
The Sharks are coming off a 4-1 win over the Vancouver Canucks that saw Mikkel Boedker, Brent Burns, Marcus Sorensen, and Chris Tierney score for the Sharks. However, a bigger story was that Martin Jones made a career-high (in a regulation win) 43 saves.
With no morning skate today, yesterday's practice will give us the best guess at what the lineup will look like. Tomas Hertl, who did not play on Thursday, practiced on a line with Logan Couture and Kevin Labanc - which was his line pre-injury. However, he is still termed "day-to-day" by the coaching staff, and will be a gametime decision.
If Hertl is not able to play, no word on if the team will return to the 7 defenseman lineup on Thursday that saw Brent Burns play forward for a period before returning to his normal defensive position in the second and third.
The Sharks and Stars have met only once previously this season, in a game the Sharks would like to forget; they were shutout 6-0 to end 2017. The Sharks look to return the favor to the Stars tonight in front of the home crowd.
