Welcome to the Gameday Blog, the one-stop shop for San Jose Sharks fans on every playoff gameday.
It's a whole new series tonight, as the San Jose Sharks host the Colorado Avalanche for the first game of the second round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
The Sharks are coming off an emotional Game 7 overtime win, that saw the team down 3-0 in the third period only to storm back to take the lead in regulation and then - after the Vegas Golden Knights tied it in the final minute - win the game in overtime. Barclay Goodrow provided the heroics, while Kevin Labanc tied the NHL record for most points in a single playoff period by contributing on all four of the goals.
The Colorado Avalanche, meanwhile, have been waiting around for an opponent for a while after dispatching the Western Conference winning Calgary Flames in five games.
While regular season records mean nothing in the playoffs, it's all we have to look at prior to the puck dropping tonight. The Sharks went 3-0-0 against the Avalanche, hosting two of those three games at SAP Center. This includes the regular season finale that saw the Sharks win 5-2 .
Not only is Team Teal in #PlayoffMode, but the entire organization and City of San Jose have also kicked it up a notch. If you aren't attending tonight's game, there are still plenty of ways for you to join in on the playoff festivities.
