SAN FRANCISCO – Comcast SportsNet Bay Area’s coverage of Sunday night’s Game 6 of the San Jose Sharks/Dallas Stars Western Conference Semifinals registered an average rating of 5.9 (over 142,000 households) and was the highest-rated Sharks telecast in the history of the network. The previous high was Game 7 of the 2002 second-round series against the Colorado Avalanche which posted a 5.7. To date, the Sharks/Stars Game 6 telecast is the highest-rated game of 2008 of any local Bay Area team.
Comcast SportsNet Bay Area was the top-rated network in key advertising demographics. The network’s Household rating, Adults 18-49 (4.0 rtg) and Adults 25-54 (4.5 rtg) demo ratings in the 6:00 p.m. – 11:33 p.m. time period were higher than any other station in the SF DMA during that entire period.
Sharks ratings have increased 233% when compared to the regular season ratings (3.0 playoffs vs. 0.9 regular season). Throughout the playoffs, Comcast SportsNet Bay Area’s Sharks ratings have averaged over 72,000 households watching per game. The Sharks 2007/08 playoff average rating of 3.0 represents a 30% increase over 2006/07’s 2.3 playoff rating.
