The Northern California Chapter of the National Television Academy has recognized Fox Sports Net Bay Area with 10 Emmy Award nominations in six different categories. The announcement was made by Ted Griggs, Vice President of Programming and Operations, FSN Bay Area.
Among the 10 Emmy Nominations, the San Jose Sharks broadcast crew was the most strongly represented, earning three nominations overall in three different categories, the highest total for a Bay Area team featured on FSN Bay Area.
“We’re proud of their excellence and dedication to their craft,” said Sharks Executive Vice President of Business Operations Malcolm Bordelon. “We have always felt we have one of the best production teams and on-air talent combinations. They deserve the recognition.”
The three categories in which the Sharks crew was recognized were: Sports – Program/Special, for Shark Byte; Sporting Event/Game, for Sharks vs. Calgary Flames: Shootout in San Jose; On Camera Talent – Sports Play-By-Play/Analyst, for San Jose Sharks Hockey.
The Sharks broadcast crew will be up against stiff competition, however, as the San Francisco Giants, the Oakland A’s and the Golden State Warriors all have broadcast crews that have also been nominated for Emmy Awards.
“Being nominated for 10 Emmy Awards is indication of the collective efforts of the entire FSN Bay Area programming and production staff,” said Griggs. “We are honored by the recognition, and feel privileged to work among some of the most talented people in the industry.”
The 35th Annual San Francisco/Northern California Area Emmy Award ceremony takes place Saturday, May 20th at the Palace of Fine Arts in San Francisco.
