On Monday, November 9, the San Jose Sharks traded in their sticks and pucks for bowling balls and pins at the Sharks Foundation’s Sharks and Strikes bowling fundraiser at Bowlmor in San Jose. The fourth annual event hosted more than 300 guests and raised nearly $54,000.
One of the Sharks Foundation’s most popular fundraisers each year, Sharks and Strikes gave fans of all ages the rare opportunity to interact with their favorite Sharks celebrities in a low key, family-friendly environment, and to see them participate in another sport besides hockey all in the name of charity.
Guests bowled alongside two different celebrities throughout the evening, giving them a chance to interact and take photos with a variety of players, broadcasters, coaches and alumni. In between strikes and spares, guests also perused a silent auction and raffle which featured various Sharks memorabilia and unique experiences.
Net proceeds raised from this year’s fundraiser will go toward the Sharks Foundation’s mission of helping underserved youth and families in the community. In the spirit of holiday giving, the Foundation is allocating $5,000 of the event proceeds to Shop with a Cop Foundation of Silicon Valley to fund their Heroes & Helpers Holiday Shopping Spree program. The program provides 100 at-risk youth with gifts they would not otherwise receive, as well as a positive experience with local law enforcement.
The Sharks Foundation would like to recognize and thank the following MVP Lane Sponsors that contributed to the financial success of the event: Comerica Bank, I.B.E.W. Local Union #332, RN Field Construction, and TiVo Inc.
