When former San Jose Sharks captain Owen Nolan announced his retirement this week, we wanted to ask fans their favorite memory of Owen Nolan. Nolan played 18 seasons in the NHL, played in exactly 1,200 NHL games with Quebec/Colorado, San Jose, Toronto, Phoenix, Calgary and Minnesota, posting 885 points (422 goals, 463 assists) and 1,793 penalty minutes. Nolan played 568 of those games with the Sharks over a span of eight seasons adding 451 points including 206 goals and 245 assists.

Through all of his years with the Sharks, Nolan created many memories for fans. Overwhelmingly, Sharks Facebook Fans voted his 1997 All-Star Game "Called Shot" as their favorite memory of Nolan as a Shark. The '97 All-Star game was held in San Jose where Nolan scored a hat trick in front of a hometown crowd. On his third goal, Nolan stole the puck at the midline and was one-on-one with goaltender Dominik Hasek. Just before he shot it, Nolan pointed at the net calling his own goal and forever leaving his impression on San Jose Sharks fans.
