Karlsson suspended two games for illegal check

NEW YORK --San Jose Sharks defenseman Erik Karlsson has been suspended for two games, without pay, for an illegal check to the head of Los Angeles Kings forward Austin Wagner during NHL Game No. 550 in San Jose on Saturday, Dec. 22, the National Hockey League's Department of Player Safety announced today.

The incident occurred at 2:33 of the second period.
Under the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement and, based on his average annual salary, Karlsson will forfeit $69,892.48. The money goes to the Players' Emergency Assistance Fund.
