DU Launches Carle For Hobey Website

A new website highlighting the hockey achievements of 2006 Hobey Baker Award candidate Matt Carle (Anchorage, Alaska) has been launched at www.carleforhobey.com, it was announced today by the University of Denver. The website features Carle’s 2005-06 season highlights, up-to-date statistics, video highlights, photos, awards and quotes.


Carle leads the WCHA in conference scoring with 9-23—32 and is tied for first in overall conference scoring with 11-29—40. He leads all NCAA defensemen with 11 goals and 40 points. Carle leads the WCHA in overall assist scoring with 29 and conference assist scoring with 23. He tallied a career-high four assists in DU’s 4-2 win over then-No. 2 Colorado College on Dec. 2. Carle leads DU with a +11 plus/minus rating, while playing against opponents’ top players every game.

He also leads DU with 13 multi-point efforts, including four three-point games and one four-point game. Carle, a 2006 Preseason All-American, has earned two Red Baron WCHA Defensive Player of the Week honors (Dec. 5 and Dec. 19) this season. He was named InsideCollegeHockey.com’s National Defensive Player of the Week on Dec. 5.

Carle was a consensus 2005 All-American after helping DU to back-to-back NCAA National Championships last April. He tallied 13-31—44 in 43 games and earned All-WCHA First-Team and Frozen Four All-Tournament honors. In 2004, Carle became the first American born player to capture a World Junior Championship and NCAA National Championship in the same season.

The No. 13 Denver Pioneers (16-10-2, 13-5-2 WCHA) host Minnesota State in a two-game WCHA series on Feb. 10-11. The games will be televised live on FSN-Rocky Mountain and broadcast live on KCKK AM 1600 (Feb. 10), KKFN AM 950 “The Fan” (Feb. 11) and DenverPioneers.com (both nights).
