Demers Called up to Add to Sharks Defense

San Jose Sharks Executive Vice President and General Manager Doug Wilson announced today that the club has recalled defenseman Jason Demers from the Worcester Sharks, the team’s top development affiliate in the American Hockey League.  In a related move, forward Benn Ferriero has been reassigned to Worcester.

Demers has played 36 games with San Jose, posting 15 points (two goals, 13 assists) 12 penalty minutes and a plus-eight rating.

The six-foot-one, 185-pound native of Dorval, Quebec was originally selected by San Jose in the seventh round (186th overall) of the 2008 NHL Entry Draft.

Ferriero has played in 24 games with San Jose this season, posting five points (two goals and three assists), eight penalty minutes and a plus-four rating. 

The five-foot ten, 185-pound native of Boston, Massachusetts was signed by San Jose as a free agent on Sept. 1, 2009.
