Dates For 2009 AHL All-Star Classic Released

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – American Hockey League President and CEO David Andrews announced today that the 2009 AHL All-Star Classic will take place on Sunday, January 25 and Monday, January 26, at the DCU Center in Worcester, Mass.


Tickets for the 2009 AHL All-Star Classic are priced at $40 and $32, granting admission to both the AHL All-Star Skills Competition on Jan. 25 at 4:00 p.m. (ET) and the AHL All-Star Game on Jan. 26 at 7:00 p.m. (ET). Tickets are also available for the annual post-Skills party and the Hockey Hall of Fame/AHL All-Star Classic Luncheon, which is highlighted by the annual AHL Hall of Fame induction ceremony.

Beginning June 1, season-ticket holders from throughout the AHL will have the opportunity to purchase ticket packages before they go on sale to the general public in October.

The 2008-09 season will be the 14th year of AHL hockey in Worcester, and the third for the Worcester Sharks franchise. This event will mark the city's first AHL All-Star Classic, and the first held in the state of Massachusetts since 1959.

The 2009 AHL All-Star Classic will feature the top young talent in the American Hockey League, competing in the AHL All-Star Skills Competition and the AHL All-Star Game. Of the 455 players to take part in the AHL All-Star Classic since 1995, more than 93 percent have competed in the National Hockey League, including current San Jose Sharks players Jonathan Cheechoo, Christian Ehrhoff and Patrick Rissmiller, Patrice Bergeron, Pavol Demitra, Rick DiPietro, Patrik Elias, Jiri Hudler, Miikka Kiprusoff, Chris Kunitz, Kari Lehtonen, Ryan Miller, Martin St. Louis, Jason Spezza, Eric Staal, Steve Sullivan and Tomas Vokoun.
