SAN JOSE - The San Jose Sharks (@SanJoseSharks) announced today that defenseman Brent Burns (@Burnzie88) has been selected as the Sharks Foundation (@SharksCare) “Sharks Player of the Month” for November.
Burns led the Sharks in goals (8), was T-1st in points (14) and was T-2nd in assists (6) during the month of November. He currently ranks 1st amongst all NHL defensemen in goals and is T-3rd in points. More so, Burns is 5th in the NHL in average time on ice at 26:23 played per game and is T-2nd with 102 shots on goal this season.
Burns scored the game-winning goal on Nov. 21, 2015 vs. the Pittsburgh Penguins and notched six points (3 goals, 3 assists) on the Sharks perfect 6-0 road trip. The Barrie, Ontario, native currently has a four-game point streak heading into Tuesday’s game.
Established in the 1996-97 season, the Sharks Foundation “Sharks Player of the Month” program honors the Sharks player(s) who have contributed most to the team’s success each month. The Sharks Player of the Month and Year award program has donated more than $300,000 to the Sharks Foundation since the program's inception.
This is the fourth player of the month recognition for Burns.
