Since being drafted by the Sharks in 1997 (First Round, 2nd overall), Marleau has become the most successful Shark in franchise history. The 6-foot-2, 220-pound native of Aneroid, Saskatchewan holds the franchise record for games played (880), goals (283), assists (337), points (620), power play goals (87) and game-winning goals (54).

An active member in the community, Marleau recently partnered with the Sharks Foundation and the Good Tidings Foundation to construct a street hockey court at Washington Elementary School in downtown San Jose.

In 2001, Marleau established the Patrick Marleau / Trent McCleary Foundation which provides financial backing for less fortunate kids to participate in all sports.
