Since being acquired by San Jose from Tampa Bay on July 4, 2008, the 33-year-old has fulfilled his role as both puck-moving defenseman and quarterback of the Sharks power play. In nearly two seasons with San Jose, Boyle has played in 133 games, scoring 27 goals --- including 12 with the man advantage --- and adding 75 assists.
Most recently, Boyle and Team Canada took home gold at the 2010 Winter Olympics with a 3-2 win over Team USA on Feb 28. During the tournament, Boyle was tied for the team lead amongst defensemen in points (six, five assists).
This season in the NHL, Boyle is tied for fourth amongst defensemen in points (45), tied for fifth in assists (34) and tied for second in goals (11). The native of Ottawa, Ontario has 13 points (three goals and 10 assists) in his last 13 games and is sixth in the League in time on ice per game (26:04).
Over his 12 NHL seasons, Boyle has scored 103 goals and added 291 assists for 394 points in 656 games.
