In 2015-16 the San Jose Sharks celebrated their 25th anniversary season. It was also the best season in franchise history, including the team's first-ever trip to the Stanley Cup Final. To commemorate, we're taking a look back at the 25 most memorable, funny, and best moments of the 25th anniversary.
After defeating the Predators in seven games in the second round, the Sharks were headed to the Western Conference Final to face the St. Louis Blues. It was the fourth time in franchise history for the Sharks to reach the third round. The Sharks had never made the Stanley Cup Final, and the Blues had not been to the Stanley Cup since the early 1970s.
The first two games in St. Louis were split, with the Blues winning Game 1 and the Sharks shutting the Blues out in Game 2. Games 3 and 4 in San Jose were also split, with Martin Jones recording his second consecutive shutout in Game 3.
Back in St. Louis for Game 5, the Sharks were down late in the second. But Pavelski tied it up prior to the period ending, and gave the Sharks the lead early on in the third. They would not allow the Blues to score another goal in that game, and were just one win away from winning the Western Conference Final.
Back in San Jose, there was a buzz in the air. The city could feel the potential for history. And the team did not disappoint. The Sharks went out to a 4-0 lead in the third period, and defeated the Blues 5-2, sending the team in teal to their first-ever Stanley Cup Final.
