25th Year In Teal: Rise of the Beards

by Staff Writer / San Jose Sharks

In 2015-16 the San Jose Sharks celebrated their 25th anniversary season. It was also the best season in franchise history, including the team's first-ever trip to the Stanley Cup Final. To commemorate, we're taking a look back at the 25 most memorable, funny, and best moments of the 25th anniversary.

The beards. You can't mention the 2015-16 San Jose Sharks without mention the beard phenomenon, with two specific players going where no man has gone before in terms of impressive hockey facial hair.

Brent Burns had been growing his beard for several seasons, with the facial hair becoming his calling card. But while it was impressive before, it grew to new ZZ Top-esque lengths this past season.

Joe Thornton has had the ability to grow an impressive beard for years, but didn't fully unleash it until this season. People started to take note of its impressive volume in February, but that was just the beginning.

With a playoff run lasting two months, the beards grew into two majestic examples of facial hair.

Will they be staying?
