25th Year In Teal: Logan Couture's 1st Career Hat Trick

by Staff Writer / San Jose Sharks

In 2015-16 the San Jose Sharks celebrated their 25th anniversary season. It was also the best season in franchise history, including the team's first-ever trip to the Stanley Cup Final. To commemorate, we're taking a look back at the 25 most memorable, funny, and best moments of the 25th anniversary.

The season did not start out well for Logan Couture. Three games into it, Couture fractured his leg during a practice on the road. On December 9, two games after returning, he suffered from an arterial bleed in his leg.

Once back from injury, Couture improved as the season went on, eventually putting up 15 goals and 21 assists in 36 games. But the highlight of the regular season was on March 29 in Vancouver.

Couture had played 426 career NHL games at that point, with 23 two goal games. He had not scored a hat trick. But that changed, with a natural hat trick to win the game against the Canucks.

From there, Couture was on fire. He led the playoffs in points with 30 points in 24 games. His 20 assists also ranked first, and his 10 goals ranked third. Couture scored 3 points in every clinching game the Sharks had in the playoffs, and contributed 3 more to stave off elimination in Game 5 against Pittsburgh. Simply put, Logan Couture was the best player in the 2016 playoffs. Quite a ways away from the two catastrophic injuries he suffered earlier in the season.
