25th Year In Teal: Historic Playoff Run

by Staff Writer / San Jose Sharks

In 2015-16 the San Jose Sharks celebrated their 25th anniversary season. It was also the best season in franchise history, including the team's first-ever trip to the Stanley Cup Final. To commemorate, we're taking a look back at the 25 most memorable, funny, and best moments of the 25th anniversary.

The 25th anniversary season saw the furthest playoff run in franchise history, winning four more games than the previous best back in the 2004 playoffs.

The Sharks dominated the top scorer's list in the playoffs, taking up four of the top five spots. Most goals? Joe Pavelski. Most assists? Logan Couture. Most points? Logan Couture, with 30 points in 24 games. On the defense side, Brent Burns swept the field, leading in goals, assists, and points.

Martin Jones emerged as one of the top goalies in the NHL during the playoffs. He put up a .923 SV% and 2.16 GAA, and improved in every series. He led all goaltenders with three playoff shutouts, and was a major reason for both of the Sharks' victories in the Stanley Cup Final.

The playoffs featured many fantastic moments: getting revenge against the Kings by beating LA in five games; a 5-0 Game 7 victory over Nashville; two straight shutouts over the Blues in the Western Conference Final; Donskoi's overtime winner on home ice in the Stanley Cup Final; Metallica performing the National Anthem; and so much more.

The season did not end with the ultimate goal, but Sharks Territory proved to be a force to be reckoned with, and is ready for another run in the 26th season.
