11 And Gone

by Staff Writer / San Jose Sharks
Once the final seconds ticked off the clock in Game 5 of the Western Conference Quarterfinals between the San Jose Sharks and Nashville Predators, Sharks fans were already stressing: “I need tickets to the next round!”

In a very familiar scene, Sharks fans packed the HP Pavilion ticket office Wednesday morning in an attempt to secure seats for the Western Conference Semifinals. And despite not knowing who their second round opponent will be until later tonight, Sharks fans could care less. All they‘re worried about is being in the building for the madness that is the playoffs.

“Playoff games are unreal,” said Craig from San Jose. “We were fortunate enough to get tickets to one of the games in the opening round and it was the best experience I’ve had at a sporting event.”

If fans thought the first round was exciting, wait until they hit their seats in the second round. Widely regarded as one of the loudest buildings in the League, HP Pavilion was definitely rockin’ against Nashville, but in round 2, everything will be turned up a notch.

Unfortunately all Sharks fans that came out early Wednesday morning did not walk away with tickets. Due to the loyal support from season ticket holders, there was an extremely limited amount of tickets (2,000 for games one and two) for purchase at the box office.

“I’m very excited I even got to buy them,” said Susan from Fremont who was one of the last fans in line to receive tickets before they sold out. “They played so well against the Predators, I had to come out and support them moving forward.”

Even if they weren’t able to buy the tickets, however, they did get a chance to interact with other Sharks faithful, hang out with S.J. Sharkie and purchase official Sharks playoff merchandise.

Although the ticket sold out in just 11 minutes, there is some good news for Sharks fans who weren’t able to attend the public on sale. On Friday at noon, a limited number of withheld tickets will become available at the HP Pavilion box office and Ticketmaster outlets.

So if you weren’t among the lucky fans to lock up your seats Wednesday morning, don’t miss your chance this Friday. We’ll see you at the Tank!
