Ottawa won game four 1-0 on another goal by Bobby Ryan, and fell 3-2 in double overtime in game five.

Leading the series 3-2, the stage was set for game six...

In summary, it was a very close series as four games were decided in overtime, and all six were decided by one goal. Guest writer Callum Fraser is back with By the Numbers: Round One, a statistical look at the Sens first round victory over the Boston Bruins.

SERIES SUMMARY

Hightlights from the second-round series that ran from April 27 to May 9, 2017
With home ice advantage for round two, Karlsson comes up big with his first goal of the playoffs. Scoring with four minutes left in the third period, his goal would prove to be the game winner, giving the Sens a 1-0 series lead.

PAGEAU, PAGEAU, PAGEAU, PAGEAU!

Despite being down by two goals on three occasions, Jean-Gabriel Pageau led the way as the Sens clawed back for a thrilling double-OT win.

"Four goals, that's absolutely sick," Head Coach Guy Boucher said. "It's not just four goals, it's the tying goal, it's the overtime one. It couldn't happen to a better person."

Despite two 4-1 losses in New York, Ottawa returned home for Game 5 with the series tied 2-2. It was another emotional game, as Brassard scored the tying goal with 1:26 left in the third period, setting the stage for overtime.

All 5 games in the series had been won by the home team, but the Sens were determined to break that trend as they headed to Manhatten for Game 6. Ottawa captain Erik Karlsson led the way with another extraordinary game, scoring his second game-winning goal of the series.

To summarize the series, Erik Karlsson said it best: "Over the course of the series, we were the better team for three of the games, and for the fourth we had Pageau."
