Lassi Thomson scored the OT winner after Team Red had erased a 2-0 deficit in the second period. Erik Brannstrom and Josh Brown also scored for Team White while Team Red got goals from Josh Norris and Colin White.
"I thought it was good," Sens head coach D.J. Smith said of the scrimmage. "Obviously, physically, our guys aren't banging into each other and that's to be expected but I thought they played pretty hard. Some of the things offensively we're working on, I saw out there but it will be better to play an exhibition game against another team though."
Thomson took Logan Brown's feed and fended off Connor Brown to beat Kevin Mandolese low at 1:50.
"He scored a ton of goals in the WHL, selected in the first round and we see big-time potential in him," Smith said. "But again, he needs time and he needs to develop and be put in the right situations but certainly it looks like we have a good player."
After Cole Reinhardt had hit the crossbar early on for Team Red, Brannstrom and Brown scored almost identical goals within a 30-second window. The Swedish blueliner made it 1-0 with 7:11 left in the period as he scored on a wrister from the low slot before Brown did almost the exact same thing moments later as Team White built a 2-0 lead after the first period.
Norris got Team Red on the board with 20:48 left in regulation with an incredible bit of skill as off the right wing he cut inside, chipped the puck up over Victor Mete's stick and swatted a low shot past Filip Gustavsson's blocker.
Team Red sent the game to overtime with 41.6 seconds left as Artem Zub found White down low and the Sens forward showed some great hands to dance around Leevi Merilainen before sending the puck up high to make it 2-2.
The game featured a rolling 25-minute first period while the second period was 30 minutes. Matt Murray started for Team Red while Anton Forsberg started for Team White and each played 16:15 before being replaced by Mads Sogaard and Gustavsson respectively.
Merilainen and Mandolese both entered the game with 18 minutes to play. Shots were 19-16 in favour of Team Red. Rosters for the game can be seen by
