We asked Sens prospect Ben Harpur 7 questions about Development Camp, his goals for next season and more...
1. His thoughts on the 2016 Sens Development Camp:
I thought it went really well. I felt really comfortable coming in here even though there are a lot of new faces on the coaching side of things. You're still familiar with the management so I was definitely comfortable coming in to my 4th camp and I thought I performed well. I'm happy with how the week went.
2. On his highlight from camp:
Zip-lining was fun. It's good to get away from the rink and go and do something with all the guys. All the guys enjoyed it so it was a good day.
3. The biggest thing he took away after Dev Camp:
They tell you what they're expecting of guys that want to make the step to the NHL so you come here and you're doing the same stuff that the guys that are currently playing for the Senators are doing. You try and absorb as much information and take away as much of it as you can and take that back home. Then come back in September and show them that you really paid attention to what was going on this week and that you really put a focus on that during your summer.
4. On a prospect that he felt stood out during Development Camp:
I might be a little biased since we lived together last year but I thought that Nick Paul had a really good week. Obviously he won the hardest worker award but for both of us it was our 4th year coming back here so he just had a good attitude all week. I think he's played 24 NHL games now in his first year as a pro so you can tell that the guys kind of look up to him in that sense. I thought he had a great week.
5. The first thing he's going to do when he gets back home:
Probably go to sleep (laughs). It's a long week so I'll probably take a couple of days off and then get back in the gym to get ready for September.
6. His plans for the rest of the summer:
I took most of my holidays right after the season to kind of get away from hockey and take a bit of a mental break so now I'm just training during the week and getting ready for September.
7. Looking forward to next season:
Just to build off the second half that I had last year. Obviously getting called up for those last 5 games was a really big boost for me and I thought I showed well so I need to come into camp in September and keep pushing and just continue on that first impression that I made.
